Adventurer’s 5 Year Plan: Become a God
"Even if they do find a way, they won’t be eligible for any of the more competitive portfolios and can't excel past lesser deity.“
Local adventurer, Zet Tonghammer, has included in his 5 year plan the goal of becoming a deity in the local pantheon. The development plan, which is required by the Adventure Guild College for all junior members, was submitted earlier this week and was noticed due to anomalies in the attached forms. “I wasn’t so concerned about the goal of apotheosis,” says College Review Clerk Jus Pfillum. “I was more worried that (Tonghammer) had misspelled their name. I couldn’t approve such an important part of a member’s plan with spelling that bad.” Pfillum also noted that Tonghammer’s plan was also missing their ability evaluation and test scores. “Many students pay handsomely for test tutors, that’s how important they are. So to see they have none is disheartening,” says Pfillum.
In addition to the errors previously mentioned, the form was notably brief. “Usually these plans are completed with some degree of thought and care, as they do affect the type of adventures we assign members, and their opportunities for growth. It can have a great impact on a member’s life and career,” local Adventure Guild College President, Frid Givertas, tells The Dungeon Tribune. “But there isn’t much in terms of methods for achieving this goal. We simply have too many resources for achieving godhood status to narrow it down for them. They didn’t even declare a portfolio. It is clear that little thought has been put into the decision.”
Tonghammer isn’t deterred by the rejected plan, however. “I’ve never been much for details, I like to adventure in the moment, and I’m more concerned with having fun at this point. Maybe I’ll take a gap year to backpack across the Ethelwoods,” says Tonghammer. “I don’t even know what the big deal is, I’m only trying to become a god. It’s not like I’m trying to get a job in finance.” Ever they optimist, Tonghammer sees no reasoned to be discouraged. “It’ll workout, I’m sure. Worst case scenario I end up as a lich working in my father’s lab for a bit.”
Apotheosis Advisor, Kyd Letphin, isn’t as confident as Tonghammer. “There are a few routes to godhood now, and it isn’t as narrow a path as it used to be, but generally future deities already have much more experience, and pristine letters of merit, by Tonghammer’s age. Even if they do find a way, they won’t be eligible for any of the more competitive portfolios and can’t excel past lesser deity.“
