Hall of Mirrors Hasn’t Been Cleaned in Ages
"You probably couldn’t even use the mirrors to summon Bloody Mary."
Local adventurers delving into the local dungeon, The Basement of Trepidation, earlier this week were shocked to find that the fabled Hall of Mirrors, one of the dungeons most infamous rooms, was well over due for a cleaning. The adventurers expressed that it was not what they were expecting. “It was a let down for sure. We had prepared for a cunning and deadly trap where reflections could not be distinguished from real monster,” says party member Aleaxel Jibreath. “But the mirrors we so dirty I could tell which mirror each monster flossed in front of.” Fellow adventurer Kylex Zevlorne was equally displeased with the room. “I tried to do that thing where you stand between infinite reflections of yourself,” Zevlorne tells The Dungeon Tribune. “But there was only a finite number of reflections. Maybe 12 at most due to the filth and debris. I was too embarrassed to even take a selfie.”
Dungeon dweller and evil bard, Kristop Hezztrax, notes that the issue has been longstanding, and isn’t easily fixed. “Between work and raising the kids, I just can’t find the time. Dungeon ownership isn’t practical as a single parent.” They have even tried hiring outside help to no avail. ”It’s hard to find dungeon cleaners,” complains Hezztrax. “Magic users clean it too well; the last one I had did such a good job he couldn’t find his way out. And normies generally don’t make it out alive. Their entrails being flung about only makes the mirrors more dirty.”
Authorities say that if the mirrors aren’t brought up to reflection puzzle code, the room could be condemned. “Right now the place is in such bad shape that even the pools of water won’t reflect anything. You probably couldn’t even use the mirrors to summon Bloody Mary,” says County Dungeon Inspector Plig Rotbrush. “I get that it’s difficult to keep mirrors clean when the room is prone to blood splatter, but there are standards that have to be met.” Not everyone is opposed to the condition of the maze, though, and some are calling for the room to be kept as is. “It seems like every dungeon has mirrors that are indistinguishable from the objects they reflect. But this one is unique, and I don’t have to suspend my disbelief when I’m here.” says adventurer Grip Stagjolt. Stagholt had no comment when asked when his reflection didn’t show up in even the cleanest mirrors.
