Powerful Wizard Asks Party to Complete Quest She Could Have Already Done by Now
“Sure, as an all powerful wizard, she could probably complete these quests with 3 spell spots before breakfast."
Earlier today, local archmage Granmis the Delegator requested a party of adventurers to perform a quest she could have done much quicker herself. Granmis, the mysterious wizard of the county Fieldhav, is known for getting hired hands to perform tasks on her behalf, but no previous quest has been as obviously inefficient as this one. “Don’t get me wrong, I’m happy for the work” says local adventurer tasked with said quest, Gwyor Pstolt. “It’s usually pretty easy gold. But I do wonder why she doesn’t just do the work herself?” Fellow adventurers voice similar concerns, such as Hamhawk Gritsail. “I asked her once,” Gritsail tells The Dungeon Tribune. “But all she said was that ‘all will be revealed’.”
Despite most adventures appreciating the opportunities, there are some that find the situation problematic. “I feel like I have to accept the quest,” says mercenary Bor Talisfeather. “If a wizard who has saved the world many times over asks you to do a favor, it is really hard to say no.”
Experts have differing explanations to try to cover the apparent plot hole. Adventurologist Yusag Ortaj believes that the wizard wants to be a job creator. “Sure, as an all powerful wizard, she could probably complete these quests with 3 spell spots before breakfast. But we have to keep in mind that she also wants to give adventurers a chance to earn a living and gain real world experience.” Ortaj’s colleague, Chim Hazzum, believes that the wizard’s methods may be related to maintaining a deterrent against the forces of evil. “Granmis has to be vigilant, and ready for anything,” says Hazzum. “If she goes off to clear a cave of goblins, it would open the county to a possible attack.” However, Frilk Sa-Regip is not convinced, and claims the math doesn’t add up. “It’s not just that it would be quicker for Granmis to finish these jobs, you also have to think of how much time she puts into recruiting and interviewing potential adventures. It is very wasteful.”
Granmis, herself, did go into more detail when we reached out to her. “Yeah, I just say the mysterious stuff when I don’t feel like explaining,” Granmis admits. “I also tell potential mercenaries that I’m too busy with bigger problems. Usually it is something involving The Outer Planes, or time travel.” When asked about those who question her methods, the wizard admitted that it can be frustrating. “Sometimes its like, do you want a quest of not?” Granmis did admit that in this instant, her lack of involvement was due to less than stellar reasons. “Well, to be honest, I had a vacation scheduled this week.”
